For years, I’ve yearned for some overly ambitious morning routines, filled with yoga, meditation, & pushups followed by a healthy, breakfast and productive spurts of writing & creativity.

Good luck with that.

In reality, I’m not an early bird and my mornings are a groggy and panicked dash from bed to bathroom, to closet, to fridge, to front door.

Meanwhile, I have found one routine that has transformed my body & eating habits. It is one of my favorite recipe that only takes about 10 minutes to make for a complete breakfast.

It gives you a morning dose of nutrients and protein that will make you feel energized, full, and steer you away from over-eating.

Best of all, there are are cleansing ingredients in it that help digestion to start your day off right.

WARNING: This is breakfast smoothie sort of resembles an algae pond. It might taste like it at first too, but trust me, you will learn to love it. And the health benefits are absolutely worth it.

Ingredients:

There is a reason why everyone is so obsessed with protein powder. Starting your day with a dose of protein will ease your body out of it’s nightly fast by regulating your blood sugar and sating your body. This prevents you from over-eating throughout the day, primes you to build muscle, and keeps your digestive system going.

  • A few shakes of cinnamon

  • 1 Hefty squeeze of lemon juice– Lemon is an excellent dose of vitamin C (proven to aid weight loss). This not only will add fresh zest to your drink, but suppress food craving and work to cleanse your digestive system.
  • Now for flavor, add your choice of frozen fruits. I prefer:
    • 1/2 Cup Organic Frozen Peaches, Strawberries, Blueberries, or Raspberries.
  • Brownie points for the Brave: Add 1/2 Cup of Kale for extra leafy ruffage & nutrients.
  • 3-4 ice cubes
  • A splash of water for easy-blending

Proceed to blend these ingredients into a pulp and drink.

Protein Vegetable Shake

Because of my tiny frame, and equally tiny budget, I sometimes use about half a scoop of each powder ingredient instead of a full scoop.

Supplements can be expensive but considering how much I save on food gorging by drinking this every day, I consider it worth it.

This shake can account for anywhere between 200- 400 calories depending on what you add.

Again, the cleansing & nutritional benefits are WORTH IT. Your body will be thrilled to get the vitamins it needs and you will be on a much quicker road to your weight loss goal.
